Inhabits currents of all velocities, with a preference for waters of moderate to strong current, between 20 and 940 m elevation. Recorded from brooks, streams and shorelines of moderate sized rivers. Found in small aggregations on rocky or sandy bottoms. Browses on ooze and detritus (Ref. 36880).
