Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Occurs in rivers, streams and lakes as well as in impoundments (Ref. 12693). A migratory species (Ref. 37772). Undertakes lateral migrations from the Mekong River into smaller tributaries and into the floodplains at the start of the flood season, returning back to the main river channel when the water begins to recede at the onset of the dry season (Ref. 37770). Migrations are triggered by the first rainfall at the end of the dry season, as well as water level changes. Lunar cycle affects also the movements. Returns to the river from the floodplain and tributaries on, or immediately before, the full moon (Ref. 37770). Feeds on small fishes, shrimps and aquatic insect larvae (Ref. 6459).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5625   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00427 (0.00258 - 0.00704), b=2.96 (2.82 - 3.10), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this species & (Sub)family-body (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  4.5   ±0.80 se; based on food items.
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  Low, minimum population doubling time 4.5 - 14 years (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Moderate to high vulnerability (49 of 100).
Price category (Ref. 80766):   Unknown.
