Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 16 - 17; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 22 - 23. A moderate-sized Paramormyrops (Ref. 81635). Head rounded, blunt; snout is U-shaped from above (Ref. 81635). The species has a uniform dark brown colour overall, somewhat lighter on the underside (Ref. 81635).

Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Its electric organ discharge (EOD) is steroid-sensitive (Ref. 10765; 10764). A mature male was reported to have an EOD waveform twice as long as that of two mature females (Ref. 10764).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5005   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01288 (0.00598 - 0.02775), b=2.86 (2.68 - 3.04), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.2   ±0.3 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
