Etymology: Lepidiolamprologus: Greek, lepis = scale + Greek, lampros = light + Greek, lagos = hare (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Ludo Isabelle Joseph Hyacinthe van Meel (1908–1990) was a botanist who was a member of the Belgian Hydrobiological Mission to Lake Tanganyika (1946–1947), during which the type was collected. He also collected in Burundi, Tanzania and Zambia. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
