Africa: endemic to Lake Tanganyika, appears to be restricted to the northern part of the lake (Ref. 75075, 78218).

Holotype collected at depth of 9-20m (Ref. 93972). May represent a deep-water specialist (Ref. 75075, 78218, 93972) of the benthic or sublittoral region (Ref. 75075). Found mostly among rocks; of no food value (Ref. 4967).
