Dorsal soft rays (total): 11 - 12; Anal soft rays: 8. Differs from congeners from Java, Sumatra and Borneo by the combination of following features: lateral line scales 30-31+2-3; absence of black blotch on end of caudal peduncle; specimens about 10 cm SL with faint midlateral stripe, posteriorly slightly more distinct, extending on median caudal rays; presence of crescentric mark (apex pointing backwards) on posterior half of exposed scales; 4 barbels in about 13 cm SL specimens, mandibullary ones about smaller than eye diameter, snout ones minute, barely distinct, larger in adults; pectoral fin extending about ¾ of distance to pelvic -fin origin; pelvic fin extending between anus and anal-fin origin; dorsal-fin tip reaching extending vertical through anal-fin origin, when folded backwards; scale rows between lateral line and dorsal fin origin 5½; and arched sheath edge of lower jaw (Ref. 75626).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00813 (0.00377 - 0.01751), b=3.05 (2.87 - 3.23), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  Medium, minimum population doubling time 1.4 - 4.4 years (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (24 of 100).
