Etymology: Labidochromis: Greek, labidos = pair of forceps + Greek, chromis = a fish, perhaps a perch (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Jacob ‘Jack’ Freiberg was an American importer of tropical fish, based in New Jersey. He brought the Labidochromis to Johnson’s attention and first made it available to aquarium hobbyists in the USA. (See Jacob Freiberg) (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
