Etymology: Fenerbahce: The Turkish word 'Fenerbahçe' can have the meaning of garden lantern from 'fener' (lantern) and bahçe (garden), from which the name of a district in Istanbul, and the name of a football club might be derived (Ref. 79517).
Issue
According to Sonenberg & van der Zee (2008) [Ref. 79517] Fenerbahce is the valid genus, because Adamas is preoccupied.

Freshwater; benthopelagic; pH range: 5.8 - 7.2; non-migratory. Tropical; 22°C - 24°C (Ref. 2060)
Africa: Alima and Likouala Rivers in Republic of Congo, as well as in Pool Malebo (Ref. 87349). Reports from other localities (eg Ruki, middle Congo near Kisangani or Lualaba River; Ref. 27139) are probably misidentifications (Ref. 87349).

Occurs mainly in the shallow and weedy parts of brooks, small streams and swamps in the rainforest (Ref. 3788). Not a seasonal killifish. Bottom spawner, 1 month incubation (Ref. 27139).
