Etymology: Echiodon: Greek, echieys, eos = a little viper + Greek, odous = teeth (Ref. 45335); atopus: From the Greek 'atopos' (= out of place) referring the original expectation that the specimen was Echiodon cryomargarites and its subsequent identification.
