Etymology: Careproctus: Greek, kara = face + Greek, proktos = anus (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Serafima Somova-Generozova (1907–c.1960) was a Russian ichthyologist and the wife of another ichthyologist, Mikhail Mikhailovitch Somov (q.v.). They met in Vladivostok when Serafima arrived there from Astrakhan to work at the Pacific Fishery Institute. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
