Africa: shore weeds and shallow parks in lake Orsedi and the Suksuk river drainage near lake Zwai, in southern Ethiopia, Lake Naivasha and inflowing streams near Nairobi, southern Kenya.

An aberrant population was found in the deeper parts of lake Naivasha. May now be extinct in Kenya due to the introduction of Tilapia and Micropterus salmoides (Ref. 3788). Not a seasonal killifish (Ref. 27139).
