Vertebrae: 45. This species is distinguished from all other genera of Labeonini by the following characters: a thick, pendulous rostral fold; upper lip closely adnate to upper jaw; upper and lower lips continuous around corner of mouth; continuous postlabial groove; with a pair of mental grooves; a pair of maxillary barbels, and branched dorsal-fin rays 10-11; differs from its congeneric species by having circumpeduncular scales 12-14, pre-dorsal midline scales 17-20, a wide head 96.8-138.5% HL, a longer postorbital length 64.6-81.0% HL, and a short dorsal fin 21.9-26.2% SL (Ref. 130432).

Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Occurs in the sluggish zone of the main stream at an altitude of 539 meters, in areas about 2-3 meters deep, with substrate consisting of boulders, cobble and sand. Associated species include Devario fangae, Tor qiaojiensis, Neolissochilus compressus, Garra salweenica, and Pterocryptis berdmorei (Ref. 130432).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = No PD50 data   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00813 (0.00377 - 0.01751), b=3.05 (2.87 - 3.23), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
