Etymology: Triplophysa: Greek, triplos = thrice + Greek, physa = tube (Ref. 45335); pseudostenura: Derived from Greek 'pseudo', alluding to the fact that the species, T. pseudostenura, was first misidentified as Triplophysa stenura.
