Etymology: Pseudophoxinus: Greek, pseudes = false + Greek, phoxinos = a certain river fish (Ref. 45335);  fahrettini: Named for Fahrettin Küçük (E?irdir), in appreciation for his contribution to the knowledge on the fish fauna of Central Anatolia.  More on authors: Freyhof & Özulu?.

Short description Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal soft rays (total): 10; Anal soft rays: 9 - 11. Differs from congeners in Anatolia and the northern Levant by the combination of the following characters: lateral line complete, reaching to caudal-fin base; 74-85 + 3-4 scales in lateral line; lateral line slanted upwards to lateral midline at vertical of posterior anal-fin base or anterior caudal peduncle; 12-14 short gill rakers; 8-10 scales between lateral line and pelvic-fin origin; last simple dorsal-fin ray flexible; upper lip projecting beyond tip of lower lip; pelvic fins short, no reaching to anus, pelvic axillary lobe present; prominent epidermal black stripe from eye to caudal-fin base; head and snout pointed (Ref. 83422).
