Scales are cycloid; body and head entirely scaled, except ventral surface of head; no scales on dorsal- and anal-fin base, 2-3 on caudal-fin base (Ref. 74419). Scales on mid-longitudinal series 25-27, transverse series of scales above pelvic fin 8-9 (Ref. 74419). Open frontal neuromast system with two separate grooves, preopercular canal with 6 pores (Ref. 74419). Several rows of hooked and unicuspid teeth on upper and lower jaws (Ref. 74419).
