Short description
Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics
Vertebrae: 35. Distinguished from its congeners by the following combination of characters: body depth 26.7-34.8% SL, short but pointed snout, that is smaller than the orbital diameter, and anal fin with 16-18 branches rays. Differs from other members of the genus in its distinctive color pattern: with only one humeral spot limited to the region above lateral line series, and has a conspicuous midlateral body stripe extending from the upper margin of opercle to the caudal-fin base, a putative autapomorphy of this species (Ref. 57404).
The type locality during dry season is about 10-20 m wide large river, with clear water, 0.1-1.0 m deep, alternating lentic stretches and rapids, with riparian vegetation including grasses and with bottom consisting of stones, rocks, sand and mud (Ref. 57404).
