Etymology: Ancistomus: Greek, agkale, agkalos = hook, something curved + Greek, stoma = mouth; micrommatos: Named for its small eyes; noun in apposition.
Issue
In Ambruster et al., 2015 (Ref. 99824), no characteristics were found to separate Ancistomus micrommatos from A. spiloma and A. spinosissimus, and these may represent the same species.
