Vertebrae: 35 - 37. Can be diagnosed by the combination of the following characters: slender body (body depth 28.22-33.90% SL) and caudal peduncle (depth of caudal peduncle 10.10-11.43% SL), large eyes (eye diameter 33.30-39.04% HL), reduced posterior chamber of air-bladder and terminal mouth (Ref. 26748).
Found in lakes in shallow waters up to 10 m deep among dense vegetation. Feeds mainly on Spirogyra, Microcystis and Bacillariophyta (Ref. 26748).
