soft rays: 10 - 11;
Vertebrae: 35. Can be differentiated from all other members of the Pseudecheneis by the absence of yellow spots or patches on the body (vs. presence). Differs from all congeners except Pseudecheneis longipectoralis in having longer pectoral fin, reaching to pelvic fin base (vs. not reaching); and distinguished from Pseudecheneis longipectoralis in having a longer caudal peduncle (28.2-32.9% SL vs. 24.9-28.2).
