Etymology: Paraschistura: Generic name taken from its similarity with the genus Schistura.
Eponymy: Prashar Bhatia was a friend of Hora. He collected the holotype (1919); it was one of a small collection he made at Hora’s request near Kohat in the North-West Frontier Province. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
