Dorsal soft rays (total): 11; Anal soft rays: 16 - 18. Diagnosis: body depth 4.5-6.3x and head length 4.0-5.0x SL; eye diameter 3.9-4.0x head length; scale formula 8.5-10.5/54-58/4.5-5.5; 8.5-10.5 scales between lateral line and dorsal fin origin; 54-58 scales in longitudinal series; 18 scales around caudal peduncle; 8 dorsal-fin branched rays; 13-15 anal-fin branched rays; usually 16 or 17 vertical bars on sides; known from some coastal basins in Sierra Leone (Ref. 2940, 81282).
Affinities: very close to R. senegalensis (less vertical bars).
