Dorsal spines (total): 13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13 - 14; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 6 - 7. Head spines strong - nasal, preocular, postocular, tympanic and parietal spines present, supraocular, coronal, and nuchal spines absent (Ref. 27437). Caudal truncate or slightly rounded (Ref. 6885). Light brown tinged in red, distinctly lighter below; 4 dark blotches along base of dorsal fin, dark pigment extends from back onto fin, may be vague; brownish red stripe on lateral line (Ref. 27437).
