Etymology: Japonolycodes: Composed from Japan + Greek, lykos = wolf + suffix oides = similar.
Eponymy: Genkiti Abe of Nisiura, Aiti Prefecture, Japan, collected the eelpout type. He is also recorded as having ‘cordially supplied material’ from his area to Ituo Kubo for his study of shrimps. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
