Environment: milieu / climate zone / depth range / distribution range
Ecology
Marine; pelagic-oceanic; oceanodromous (Ref. 51243); depth range 0 - 1300 m (Ref. 4775), usually 45 - 50 m (Ref. 4775). Temperate; 50°N - 15°N, 50°W - 36°E
Eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea: North temperate pattern (temperate-subtropical subpattern), between about 50° and 38°N, east of 50°W and in Mauritanian upwelling region, in both eastern and western Mediterranean basins. Northwest Atlantic: Canada (Ref. 5951).

Maturity: Lm ?  range ? - ? cm
Max length : 10.2 cm SL male/unsexed; (Ref. 4479)
High-oceanic, mesopelagic species. Probably found deeper than 1,000 m during the day, occurs at 12-200 m at night (maximum abundance at 45-50 m). Nyctoepipelagic at surface and down to 125 m (Ref. 4775).
