Bagridae (Bagrid catfishes)
Etymology: Mystus: Greek, mystax = whiskered, used by Belon in 1553 to describe all fishes with whiskers (Ref. 45335).
More on author: Roberts.
Environment: milieu / climate zone / depth range / distribution range
Ecology
Freshwater; demersal. Tropical
Asia: Chao Phraya and Bangpakong basins in Thailand and Mekong basin.
Size / Weight / Age
Maturity: Lm ?  range ? - ? cm
Max length : 35.0 cm SL male/unsexed; (Ref. 30857)
Vertebrae: 40 - 42. Melanophores absent from skin in immediate proximity of lateral line, thus creating a thin median white or pale stripe. The stripe is emphasized by dense accumulations of melanophores immediately above and below it. Some specimens have a pale, semiocellated humeral spot and with small, dark, triangular midpeduncular spot.
Facultative air-breathing in the genus (Ref. 126274); Found in flowing and standing waters, especially around submerged woody vegetation. Adults feed on insect larvae, including chironomids as well as zooplankton and fishes. Spawn just prior to or at the onset of the rainy season and its young are first caught in July and August. Oviparous, distinct pairing possibly like other members of the same family (Ref. 205). Marketed fresh or smoked (Ref. 12693).

Estimates based on models
Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref.
82804): PD
50 = 0.5000 [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00832 (0.00359 - 0.01926), b=2.95 (2.78 - 3.12), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this Genus-body shape (Ref.

Trophic level (Ref.
69278): 3.7 ±0.55 se; based on food items.
Resilience (Ref.
120179): High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (K=0.9; assuming Fec < 10,000).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref.
59153): Low to moderate vulnerability (33 of 100).
