Adults inhabit shallow rocky reefs and associated with colonies of Millepora alcicornis (Floeter 1998, pers. comm.). Feed mainly on benthic algae and aggressively territorial (Floeter 1998, pers. comm.). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205).
