Etymology: Amphiprion: Greek, amphi = on both sides + Greek, prion, -onos = saw (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Mike Thielle was the owner of Reef Encounter in Hackensack, New Jersey (USA), an aquarium and pet-supply store. He donated two aquarium specimens to Burgess, which served as the types. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
