| Comments | Misidentification in Greece. Carus (1893) reports as a Bathypterois longifilis, […] a fish caught by the “Pola” expedition in the Ionian Sea. Pardi (1951) quotes the opinion of Tortonese that it is in reality Bathypterois dubius. The disappearance of the sample from the Museum of Vienna throws doubts on Carus’ assertion. Bauchot (1962) during the revision of the family Bathypteroidae also considered Carus’ assertion doubtful. |
