This species of is characterized by the following: no papillae on the upper eye; diagonal scale count 4-5: D fin I,VII, A 11; single preocular and preorbital spines; short snout, its length in HL 3.7-4.0 times; caudal fin with 3 dark bars and a dark saddle crossing back under the entire D1 fin (Ref. 92868).
