Diagnosis

Body charcoal gray to black with white spots and a white band in the caudal fin. Dorsal base length to caudal depth ratio, 3.2-3.5 SL. Lateral line plates 23-25; dorsal plates 6-7; interdorsal plates 5-7; adipose-caudal plates 7-8; folded dorsal fin plates 11-12; and postanal plates 11-12 (Ref. 40437).
