Diagnosis |
Medium-sized fish of moderately deep, compressed body. Predorsal scales very large, beginning between the nostrils. Preoperculum with coarse distant serrations, and scales extending on to flange. Color is silvery, darker above; fins yellowish-brown. Young individuals with a large dusky steel-blue blotch on the operculum. |
