Distinguished from all congeners by having a large and vertically elongate humeral blotch, extending from the lateral line to near the dorsum. The anterodorsal portion of humeral blotch with an anterior extension. The uniqueness of the shape and size of the humeral blotch, not found in other species, is considered an autapomorphy of this species (Ref. 75796).
