Diagnosis

Head and body whitish to light brown; with 7 black bands, at least 5 of which encircling the body. Rounded to elongate lack spot on the center of caudal fin base. Black-bordered whitish oblique streak from eye to corner of mouth. Longitudinal scales 25-28. TRB 7-9. Predorsal scales 8-11; starting close behind eyes, anteriormost scale enlarged. Scales on body mostly ctenoid. Second to 4th spines of dorsal fin longest, often elongate (Ref. 43716).
