This species is distinguished by the following characters: head length 2.9-3.7 and body depth 2.3-2.7 in SL; upper profile without notch anterodorsal to eyes; snout protruded and pointed, length of pectoral fin of ocular side 4.8-5.2 in SL and shorter than HL; upper jaw as long as lower eye diameter; teeth uniserial on lower jaw of the blind side; dorsal fin beginning behind posterior nostril of blind side; first two rays of the dorsal fin detached from other rays of the fin, no ray prolonged; dorsal-fin pterigiophores shorter than neural spines of first four caudal vertebrae;
