Notas | Coloration: Males: Flank light blue with reflective yellow sheen and 8 interrupted red stripes, three of which located on caudal peduncle; dorsum brownish; opercle dark greyishblue; ventral part of head light blue; upper and lower jaw dark brown to red; iris yellow; dorsalfin cream with red dots and elongated spots except on distal portion; anal-fin light blue with yellow reflective sheen, series of red dots on basal portion, black stripe on distal margin; caudal-fin pale grey-brown with greenish stripes and red dots between rays, a broad yellow to creamywhitish distal margin, greyish-yellow ventral stripe with narrow grey margin; pectoral-fin hyaline, yellowish on basal portion; pelvic-fin light blue (Ref. 119428). Females: Flank pale greyish-brown with reflective yellow sheen and irregular black dots and spots forming 3 to 6 irregular lines on caudal peduncle; dorsum dark brownish; venter light blue to greyish-white; head dark brown with blue reflective sheen; iris yellow; dorsal-fin yellowish with dark brown to black spots; anal-fin light blue with red to dark brown dots; caudal-fin opaque grey with black dots, ventral portion without dots, round black spot on dorsal portion of caudal-fin base; pectoral-fin yellowish; pelvic-fin light blue (Ref. 119428). |

Diagnosis: Anablepsoides fransvermeuleni is distinguished from other members of the A. igneus group by the following combination of characters: frontal squamation D-patterned; 14-15 pectoralfin rays; 42-45 scales in the longitudinal series; 12-13 scales in the transverse series; males with 3 red interrupted stripes over a light blue background on the caudal peduncle; caudal-fin subtruncate, with a broad yellow distal margin; and females with a round black spot on dorsal portion of caudal-fin base (Ref. 119428). |
