Definition of Term

spawning aggregation
(English) A group of conspecific fish gathered for the purpose of spawning, with fish densities or numbers significantly higher than those found in the area of aggregation during the non-reproductive periods. Resident spawning aggregations draw individuals from a relatively small and local area, wheras in transient spawning aggregations individuals must travel days or weeks to reach the aggregation site. agrégation de ponte
(French) Groupe de poisson congénère assemblé pour frayer, les densités ou les nombres de poissons dans la zone d'agrégation sont considérablement plus haut que pendant les périodes non-reproductrices. Les agrégations de ponte résidantes sortent des individus d'une zone relativement petite et locale, alors que les agrégations de ponte transitoires doivent voyager des jours ou des semaines pour atteindre l'emplacement d'agrégation.
