Definition of Term

Exclusive Economic Zone
(English) All waters within 200 nautical miles of a country and its outlying islands. The country has the power to manage all fishery resources in this zone. A nautical mile is one minute of latitude or 1.852 kilometers.

(Portuguese) Águas dentro do limite de 200 milhas náuticas dum país e das suas ilhas. Cada país tem o poder de gerir os recursos pesqueiros existentes nas suas águas territoriais. Uma milha náutica equivale a um minuto de latitude, isto é, 1852 Km.
