Definition of Term

artificial channel
(English) A man-made passage through a barrier reef, perimeter reef or fringing reef; generally narrower and shallower than a natural passage. (See also: barrier reef coast, fringing reef area)
canal artificiel
(French) Un passage artificiel à travers d’un récif barrière, récif du périmètre ou récif marginal; généralement plus étroit et peu profond qu'un passage naturel. (See also: barrier reef coast, fringing reef area)
