Related Legislation: Established in 1923 under the Convention on Pacific Halibut. The convention was the first international agreement providing for the joint management of a marine resource. The Commission's authority was expanded by several subsequent conventions, the most recent being signed in 1953 and amended by the protocol of 1979.
