Geografia e clima American Samoa is an agglomeration of six different islands, including the Manua Islands, Tutuila, and Swains Island. The islands have been a possession of the United States since 1900. The islands are volcanic or coral in origin, and tend to be mountainous and well forested. Vegetation is rich and agriculture is extremely successful. Coconuts, taro, bananas, and cacao are all exported from the islands. Fishing, forestry, and tourism are also important to the economy.
