Abstract: By considering comparative morphological and karyological analysis of the material from the Kuban basin, a new gudgeon species Gobio kubanicus sp. nova is described. According to the analysis of morphogenetic and zoogeographical data, the area of G. gobio is limited by water bodies of Great Britain, southern Sweden, basins of the North, Baltic, and White seas, and the Volga. The new species differs in longer barbels, presence of individuals with scales on the throat, pattern of the karyotype, and in other characters of external morphology and of skull structure. The diagnosis, synonymy, and area of G. gobio s. stricto and a detailed description of the new species are presented. |
