Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Tanganyika.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in rocky habitats. Females form small to large schools, sometimes consisting of several hundreds of fish (Ref. 6770). Feeds on both filamentous and unicellular algae (Ref. 13512).
