Family:  Nototheniidae (Cod icefishes), subfamily: Trematominae
Max. size:  17 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-oceanic; marine; depth range 50 - 400 m
Distribution:  Southern Ocean: off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula and islands of the Palmer Archipelago.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 4-6; Dorsal soft rays (total): 34-36; Anal soft rays: 33-35; Vertebrae: 50-53. Light and dark areas of purple and silver. Silvery below (Ref. 11892).
Biology:  Probably an autumn or winter spawner (Ref. 11892).
