Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 15 - 400 m
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: southern Okhotsk Sea to northern Japan Sea and Pacific coast of northern Japan.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-21; Dorsal soft rays (total): 6-9; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 23-27. Snout long, tubular. Lower jaw projecting forward beyond upper one. No barbel on lower jaw. A short barbel is present on the posterior end of the upper jaw. Branchial membranes free from isthmus.
Biology:  Minimum depth reported at 15 m (Ref. 56557).
