This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: the upper jaw is short, posterior tip not reaching posterior margin of preopercle; first supramaxilla is long and narrow; branched rays of dorsal fin 10-11 (modally 11), of anal fin 24-30 (28) and of the pectoral fin 11-12 (12); transverse scales 9; scale rows in longitudinal series 33-35 (34); gill rakers on first gill arch, in upper series 23-27 (23), lower series 27-31 (28), total 50-57 (51); gill rakers on second gill arch, in upper series 17-20 (19), lower series 26-32 (29), total 44-52 (48); gill rakers on third gill arch, in upper series12-17 (15), lower series 15-19 (16), total 29-35 (31); gill rakers on fourth gill arch, in upper series 11-13 (12), lower series 12-15 (14), total 23-27 (26); gill rakers on posterior face of third gill arch 5-8 (8); body is rather elongate, its depth 21.9-26.0% (mean 23.8%) SL; distance between the origins of dorsal and anal fins 26.1-30.2% (28.3%) SL; caudal peduncle is rather short and narrow, its length 7.7-10.4% (9.0%) SL and depth 8.8-10.6% (9.8s%) SL (Ref. 123269). |
