Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 5-5; Anal soft rays: 8-10. This species is distinguished by the following characters: a black midlateral stripe from eye to end of peduncle (less obvious in live specimens but conspicuous in preserved specimens) within dark area of back and flank; (45)49-62(65) lateral line scales; 8.5-9.5 branched anal-fin rays; rounded snout projecting slightly beyond upper lip; pharyngeal teeth in 2 rows; posterior margin of anal fin straight; number of gill rakers 9-11; number of scale rows between lateral line and pelvic origin 6.5-7.5; depth of caudal peduncle 2-2.6 times in its length (Ref. 87378). |
