Diagnosis: |
Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 16-19; Vertebrae: 37-40. Body with dark blotches on the sides, especially in small individuals (< 5cm SL). Anterior edge of pectoral and dorsal spines without serrations; posterior edge of dorsal spine with retrorse teeth. Caudal fin moderately forked with rounded lobes. Adductor mandibulae extending onto skull roof; the latter covered with thick skin. Maxillary barbels moderately short, not extending to origin of pectoral fin. |
