Max. size:  5.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: known only from the type locality in the Mpozo River near Matadi (lower Congo River basin), in Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ref. 42510, 52307).
Diagnosis:  Description: body moderately elongate; upper lip overlapping; males develop a very small hump (Ref. 52307). Coloration: body gray to grayish-brown; scales not well-marginated; at times, 2 horizontal stripes are visible, joining at caudal peduncle at about height of end of anal fin; some diffuse vertical bars also sometimes present (Ref. 52307).
Biology:  Rheophilic; pair-bonding and cave spawning species (Ref. 52307).
