Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Spinibarbinae
Max. size:  41.5 cm SL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 1,000.0 g
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Laos, northern Viet Nam and southeastern China, Hainan.
Diagnosis:  Anal fin with 5 1/2 branched rays; a forward directed spine in front of dorsal fin origin; post-labial groove interrupted in middle; absence of conspicuous dark marks on body and fins (Ref. 43281).
Biology:  Adults live in the deep pools of streams.
