Family:  Odacidae (Cales and weed-whitings)
Max. size:  12 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 15 - 45 m
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: southern Australia, from Rottnest Island, Western Australia to Wilsons Promontory, Victoria.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Commonly found at some distance from the shore, over sandy areas associated with seagrass and low rocky outcrops. Form small groups at depths of about 15-20 m.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 16 September 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
